Stella has now found a loving home.
ORIGINAL ADVERT: STELLA LIKES LOTS OF COMPANY & EXERCISE
A kind and gentle home is needed for beautiful Stella.
When this 24kg Border Collie X Huntaway X Labrador ruptured her cruciate ligament, Animal Re-homing paid the bulk of Stella's corrective surgery so she wouldn't be put to death. We then took her into foster care (the photo opposite was taken on the day of her operation).
Stella has recovered well from her surgery and now needs a home where she can gradually be reintroduced to her usual and much-loved exercise quota of daily walks, runs and swimming in safe areas. Warm water exercise therapy would also be helpful at any time.
Sweet Stella was purchased from a pet shop as a puppy and is now a 7-year-old with a lovely, friendly nature. Due to a marriage and property break-up and a move overseas, poor Stella has been rendered homeless.
In the words of a family member, “…she is a great dog who smiles when you come home and will give you more love than you will ever need, especially if you rub her belly. She also loves walks, ball-play, swimming and cuddles! She lies on the sofa and puts her head on your lap. She likes to be around people and to be the centre of attention! Being brushed is fine and she even likes to be vacuumed…but you cannot try to cut her nails - she hates it. She is good with other dogs and with most cats.
We have tried to find a home for Stella, but have been unlucky so far. Thank you SO much for all your help Linda! You have no idea how much we appreciate it…”
Stella is used to unrestricted indoor/outdoor access and this must also be provided by the successful applicant. She is also used to sleeping on a human bed with her caregiver at night – this option is preferred, but negotiable if she can sleep in her new caregiver's bedroom at night.
Stella has had no professional training since puppy school, so attending a series of basic group obedience classes is a condition of her adoption. This would help her to bond with her new caregiver, tighten up her recall and teach her how to walk politely on a lead.
Stella is spayed, registered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped and is up to date with her flea and worm treatments. Her teeth are in great condition.
If you have a securely fenced and gated property, the commitment to take Stella to training classes and plenty of love and time to give her - then I very much look forward to your application. It would also be helpful if you don't mind a dog who expresses her love by licking your face!
If anyone can help with Stella’s veterinary costs of $1,000.00, it would be much appreciated. Click here to donate for Stella. Thank you so much.
