Over the years we have rescued and rehabilitated many hedgehogs suffering from mange or whose wounds are maggot infested. With initial vet treatment and intensive care, they generally make excellent recoveries.

We do not release recovered hedgehogs into the wild as they may be intentionally trapped or poisoned. Instead, we are looking for safe and securely fenced homes on private properties (suburban included) where there are no dogs, rat, slug or snail bait to kill them.

A daytime sleeping shelter will need to be provided, along with food and water. Shelters can be home made or commercially purchased. This link offers a great DIY variety.

If you would like to give a safe haven to one of our recovered hedgehogs, who can live up to 4 years, please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We are based in Auckland. Thank you.
