VOTE FOR THE ANIMALS

This election, Auckland has an animal-friendly Mayoral Candidate. ? Voting is from 16th September - 8th October. Don't miss out! Please tell your Auckland friends.

The candidate is Michael Morris, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.,
www.greensoul.ac.nz, Tel. 021 064 6909

He is also a founder of a developing Animal Justice Party which will be registered for the 2023 general election. The more votes Michael wins, the more public awareness is raised about the importance of animal justice.

Michael’s official profile statement is below.

“Kia ora koutou

I am a policy adviser, scientist, teacher and vegan for the animals.

I am the only candidate representing the underclass; tormented, mutilated and cruelly slaughtered in their billions.

I also stand for environmental justice, and justice for financially disadvantaged humans. All are related.

Environmental damage disproportionally affects animals as we saw in the Australian bush fires. Animal agriculture contributes to climate change, pandemics, food insecurity and habitat destruction.

Social ills, including environmental damage and animal consumption, are worse in unequal societies. Income equality benefits all.

Policies include; free and comprehensive public transport, plant-based council functions, no lethal animal management, phasing out animal farming, no rodeo or animal racing on council property, preserving trees and biodiversity. A living wage for council staff, including contractors.

Changes to be funded by capping salaries (including my own), selling unnecessary council assets for (sustainable) development, and developer levies. No rate rises”.

HEN FOUND IN BROWNS BAY, AUCKLAND

Last night Kyle contacted us with concerns about a lost hen wandering onto his property and roosting on the roof of his van. Like us, he was afraid dogs or cats might harm her.

Following our advice, Kyle was delighted to be able hand catch this sweet hen and he named her Henny Penny. We collected the hungry wee girl from him and are now searching for her guardians.

Thank you for your kind heart and swift actions Kyle. ?

If anyone knows Henny Penny's caregivers, please ask them to private message or email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Thank you.

ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING

??? ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING ???

Many thanks to Trustee Paul and his nonagenarian father, Eric, for taking the eight hour return journey to the Far North to deliver the Muscovy ducks to their excited family. Thank you so much Eric, for also funding the meals and overnight accommodation. ?

Delighted guardian, Tammy, (pictured with Eric), had set up a comfortable temporary settling-in area and will allow the flock to wander down to the ponds and dam once they know their boundaries.

Here's what she had to say, "We all love them. The kids, my partner and I have spent most of the day just watching them waddle around. They are so entertaining. Thankyou so much. I will have plenty more pics to come".

Thanks Tammy and family. How we love a happy ending!!!

So far $20 has been donated towards the fuel costs for the long journey. If you are also able to chip in with this expense of $286, it will be much appreciated.

SUCCESSFUL RESCUE

??? Good news! ???

After some nailbiting moments, we have managed to rescue the at-risk Muscovy ducks. It turned out there were 9 of them - not 8.

They are having a sleepover at our shelter tonight and tomorrow they will be transported to their lovely new home in the Far North.

Thank you so much to everyone who offered these beautiful animals a safe haven. If you haven't already, please send us an email with your contact details, so we can get in touch with you when homes are needed for future waifs.

MUSCOVIES SEEK A SAFER HOME

MUSCOVIES SEEK A SAFER HOME

? MUSCOVIES SEEK A SAFER HAVEN ?

These sweet ducks are currently at the mercy of poachers, causing their numbers to dwindle.

Does your property offer trees, a pond (or kiddies paddling pools) and some green space for 8 Muscovy ducks to enjoy?

These friendly, tail-wagging birds will help keep your land free of ticks, flies and other bugs and will welcome a daily feed and your kitchen scraps.

We are seeking a slaughter-free, rural home where the flock will be appreciated for its beauty and companionship.

Please tell us a little about yourself and your property when you make your inquiries to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Thank you.

NOTE: The ducks are currently living in rural Auckland.
