It was the happiest phone call of the week when Patches long-term fosterers asked me about Animal Re-homing's adoption process. I held my breath as I waited for Helen's magical words,
"She has fitted in so well with us and our dogs...and she's been with us a long time...it wouldn't be right to move her again at her age...she's slowing down a bit now...we would like to formally adopt her".
This darling senior citizen came with Helen when we filled in the change of guardianship papers. How I loved receiving Patches enthusiastic face licks and how her soulful eyes again penetrated my heart.
With two loving caregivers and four other welcoming canine companions. this lovely old lady has finally found her very happy retirement home. May her final days be everything this sweet girl has dreamed of.

When her caregiver passed away, this beautiful senior citizen and her brother Smoke were left homeless. Tragically she was encouraged to chase cats, so family members cannot take her into the warmth and comfort of their feline-filled properties.
We have found a wonderful home for Smoke on many acres in the Muriwai area where he is enjoying his happy ending. Sadly, the resident dog did not accept Patches or she could have lived there with her brother.
Patches has just turned 12-years-old and needs a retirement home where she will have plenty of human company and be taken out for exercise most days. This curious Staffy X Blue Heeler loves to go for bush, park and beach walks almost as much as she loves to lean against people, give their faces her sloppy kisses and spend hours alongside them. Patches is a companion dog looking for a companion human to care for her.
She is spayed, registered, fully vaccinated and up-to-date with her flea and worm treatments. She has had a comprehensive vet check, been micro-chipped and had her bloods tested. Other than a little arthritis creeping in and being on medication that stops her mild urinary incontinence, she is in wonderful condition for her age.
If you have no cats living with you or visiting your property and if you are in a position to offer plenty of affection and walks to Patches, I very much look forward to hearing from you. Applicants will need to have securely fenced and gated properties.
