Running our animal rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing shelter is a comprehensive and full-time job requiring at least one experienced person on-site at all times. For this reason, founders Linda and Paul had not been able to have a holiday together for eight years!
That all changed last weekend when Imogen took care of everything so they could celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary with a three night break in Rotorua. Gareth kindly gave her moral support while volunteers Onjoli and Arionne assisted for an afternoon and Maggie, Gemma, Bella, Angie, Nicole, Lynn and Neil ensured all the dogs were given stimulating walks and experiences.
Linda and Paul say, “It was so lovely to experience being a ‘normal’ couple spending some special time together without any responsibility. We loved zip-lining above the canopy of a gorgeous forest with Rotorua Canopy Tours, taking in a movie, soaking in mineral pools, finding delicious vegan eateries, walking aimlessly through markets and just reconnecting with one another. It was slow-down sanity time. Huge thanks to Imogen and everyone else who made it possible”.
