Lewis was the tiniest of 12 puppies born to the sweetest Australian Kelpie cross mum, in a Hamilton dog pound 5 years ago. He is now a medium-sized dog of 23kg, staying in Auckland.
After a kind kennelhand and his partner took the mum and pups into their foster care for 8 weeks, they drove them to us in Auckland. Lewis was a very curious pup, so they named him after the explorer Meriwether Lewis.
We quickly found perfect homes for Mumma and her many pups, but there was no interest in sensitive little Lewis (or his sister Winnie) so they remain under our umbrella. Brindle dogs are notoriously hard to home, and it doesn't help that our little boy needs time to warm to new people.
If you will initially spend time walking with us, Lewis will bond hard and smother you in love and loyalty. He adores chasing and chewing balls and enjoys play with friendly dogs... but, more than anything, he loves to be in the arms of those he trusts.
We don't know who fathered Lewis, but Boxer, Staffy, and Lab crosses have all been suggested by our trainers.
Lewis is neutered, registered, microchipped, vaccinated, and long overdue for adoption. If you are a cat-free home with dog experience and no children, we look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
A calm foster home with a view to adoption will also be welcome. Thank you. Applications to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
