This dear wee cat cried all the way through his bath and purred all the way through his towel drying.
It was appalling to watch the maggots and fleas dropping into the lukewarm water, and so sad to see the faeces and urine scalding around his genitals, tail and hind legs.
When drying his abdomen, it became clear that this thin, hungry, and bedraggled little soul was an unneutered male... so not a pregnant female as we initially thought. ????
When droplets of urine leaked from him, we realized he was unable to urinate and the huge, tight abdominal bulge was likely a dangerously full bladder.
I immediately mannually expressed his bladder and was delighted when his stomach flattened and his purring increased. Due to his sweet nature throughout bathing and bladder emptying, his name became "Sweetie".
After a few days of continued urine expression, enjoying electric pad bedding, smelling fresh, eating heartily, and being treated for parasites, he was ready for a vet visit.
Please come back to follow Sweetie's progress...
