LOVELY YOUNG DOG NEEDS A HOME TO SAVE HIS LIFE
“Smiley Sam” is a 2-3 year old Huntaway X Corgi dog in an Auckland pound. Due to his sunny nature and his smiling appearance when he’s happy, he has endeared himself to the staff. (See photos). His time on death row has already been extended and he will definitely be put to sleep early this coming Thursday morning (24th) if no-one comes forward to adopt him today or tomorrow.
Smiley Sam has passed his temperament test, enjoys human company and interaction - especially ball games - and gets along well with other dogs. He would not suit a home with cats as, at this stage, he will chase them. He is described by staff as a healthy “cruisey” boy whose new caregivers will need to put some time into reward-based basic training.
For the cost of $220.00 Smiley Sam will be neutered, registered, micro-chipped, flea and worm treated and have his first vaccination prior to his adoption. If his life is saved, the successful applicant will probably be able to collect him immediately following his de-sexing on Thursday afternoon. If the vet clinic is too busy, his adoption may need to be delayed until after the Christmas period…but ONLY if a home is secured and the adoption fee paid.
