Let’s go to WOOFSTOCK

We're flat out getting organised for WOOFSTOCK-Pets, Love & Music - Dog Festival this weekend.

Please bring your friends, families and dogs. Come to Milford (Auckland) to meet Sassy, Bandit, Bear, Amber, Odin, Sammy and Paige... among others of our beautiful rescue dogs who need loving homes.

We can't wait to meet you there... and to reunite with some of our adopted dogs.

Abandoned kittens need loving homes

These four beautiful kittens were left even more vulnerable in an industrial area when their pure white mother was killed on the road. Witnesses will never erase the heartbreaking image of her milk flowing onto the street while her kittens stared on, open-eyed with fear.

Kind business owners had been feeding two adult cats there and, after this tragedy, immediately sought help for the kittens and the remaining adult.

With one of our humane traps in hand, Pixie's Animal Rescue did a fantastic job of capturing these beautiful kittens and the adult cat. They exhausted themselves as they clocked up almost 800km travelling back and forth with the waifs as they were trapped. Kudos to our friends and colleagues at Pixies for saving their lives.

The four female kittens have been at our Auckland shelter for taming and care for three weeks now. They have been twice wormed and treated for fleas, and volunteer Wendy has named them Cassie, Fleur, Darcie and Gemma.

As soon as we have had them spayed and micro-chipped, we will be accepting applications for gentle, traffic safe homes for these little girls.

Beautiful brothers seek beautiful homes

Last year, nine-month-old Odin and his (almost identical) brother Sammy, were cruelly abandoned at a rubbish dump where their litter-mates died of starvation.

These easygoing, playful Great Dane X puppies are now neutered, registered, micro-chipped, vaccinated and ready for a life where they never again suffer hardship.

Due to their large size and boisterous play, Odin and Sammy are best suited to a home with an individual, a couple or a family with kiddies over 10 years. Both pups love being around older children.

These sweet dogs adore bounding with other dogs on beaches, parks and bush-tracks and will need active daily walks, plenty of chew toys, stimulation and training. Mostly they enjoy lots of human and canine companionship and, when the exercise is over, are content to chill alongside their human.

If you have the property to contain a large breed dog, the time to spend with him and the financial means to feed and care for him; we look forward to hearing from you.

Please note that attendance at a series of group dog obedience classes is a condition of Odin and Sammy’s adoptions. Thank you.

Odin and Sammy are currently based in Auckland.

*** Some of the words our volunteers have used to describe one or both of these pups: "Sweet, affectionate, gentle giant, alert, sleek, handsome, playful, huge, loving, kid-friendly, energetic, easygoing, good-looking, fun, cuddly, adventurous, beautiful, majestic, outgoing, stunning, curious, long-limbed, friendly, happy, nose-to-the-ground, confident, strong…"

Rodeo Protest at Warkworth

Huge thanks to Animal Re-homing Charitable Trust's friends and supporters for joining the crowd protesting the Warkworth rodeo on New Years Day 2019.

Direct Animal Action did a great job of organising this peaceful vigil. We think this chant sums up rodeo.

It was good to see Gareth Hughes MP in the crowd. To hear what he had to say on the day: https://tinyurl.com/yav3hatt
