Happy Ending for Niki

Time to share yet another happy ending!

It was love at first sight when Claudia and Mark met Niki, our rescue German Shepherd X puppy. They flew through their interview and home inspection and had bought everything she needed - even before the adoption was formally approved.

Her new name Enake (meaning 'Alert') suits her beautifully. We are absolutely thrilled for this gorgeous little girl.

The Little Flock is finally adopted

Finally... a happy ending for The Little Flock!

When we rescued Little Brown Hen, Little Black Hen and Little Rooster from being killed in possum traps, we cared for them in our small, 'temporary' holding pen for 18 months while we searched for a fully predator-proof home for them.

In desperation, we asked The Animal Sanctuary if they would adopt them. Thankfully they said yes - and we were ecstatic when we saw the massive enclosure they had prepared. We are so grateful to everyone at The Animal Sanctuary.

The trio of tiny Bantam chickens was equally impressed with their new home, and Little Rooster strutted about as though he'd personally moved his girls into this awesome mansion.

Introducing Buddy

Introducing Buddy Meet our gorgeous boy Buddy who is looking for his forever home.

Buddy is a Border Collie x Lab who is about 8 years young. He is a charming boy, full of love and affection who dotes on human company. He walks nicely on a lead, and loves going on long walks and then lazing around in the afternoon.

Buddy gets on well with our other dogs Vernie and Pablo but is best suited as the only pet in the house. He can react to some dogs and, for this reason, he wears a muzzle whilst walking. His new family would need to be comfortable and confident with this.

His perfect home will provide him with company most of the time, a daily walk and people who don't mind him wanting to snuggle as often as possible.

The only way to have chicken for lunch

At the shelter, this is how we like to have chicken for lunch!

The weather was so miserable today that our amputee hen joined us for a meal indoors.

Adoption & Awareness Day

What a very successful day!

PETstock Constellation Drive invited us to share their store space to promote our work and some of our animals who are waiting for adoption. Our ambassadors were the young Mastiff cross named Vernie, the bonded rabbits Ghost & Sweet Pea, and the relaxed ex-battery hens Chocky & Blondie. Posters introduced some of our other dogs, many cats, hens, roosters and hedgehogs.

We have come away with a potential home for Vernie and a list of people who would like to adopt in future, to volunteer or to help us in other ways. Huge thanks to PETstock for the opportunity, to the dedicated volunteers who walked our dogs and manned our stand, to The Roost for lending us the gorgeous hens, and to the public for their enthusiastic support. We are very grateful to you all.

Please get in touch if you would like to apply to adopt any of our homeless waifs. Thank you.
