Celebrate and acknowledge the loyalty of two of our valued supporters

Today we celebrate and acknowledge the loyalty of two of our valued supporters.

Exactly five years ago one of our volunteers found a talented guy to carry out our website admin - and she continues to sponsor his fees all these years later.

Sayeed (pictured) has remained dedicated and efficient in helping us to showcase our work with animals in strife... often working through the night to meet emergency deadlines.

Huge thanks to Sayeed and to his sponsor (who has asked to remain anonymous). We are indebted to you both for your skill, loyalty and generosity.

Walle needs care within 10 days

walleURGENT: Contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Walle’s caregivers are unable to keep him… and he must be in a permanent or foster home within 10 days!

Although he's almost nine-years-old, little Walle is a healthy, energetic live-wire and his successful applicants will need to make exercising and training him a priority in their lives. Fences and gates will need to be a minimum of 1.5metres high.

Walle is a small-medium dog, weighing 10.6 kilograms and is a beautiful mix of Jack Russell, Bichon Frise and Lhasa Apso - he is one very handsome little boy!

We are seeking a home for Walle where he is the only pet and where his successful applicant will agree to a pre-booked series of weekly dog training classes as a condition of his adoption.

Walle’s previous caregiver describes him in this way:
“Walle needs to be on a lead at all times, otherwise he will run away to explore - and not return when called. He gets excited and pulls on the lead because he hasn’t been walked enough – only a few times a year and he has had no training. He’s very affectionate so he loves wallelicking your face, and sitting close to you. He also loves being patted, kissed and cuddled, bathed and brushed. He likes to stick his head out the car window – but most of all he wants to be with the people he loves and to play with a ball. Walle needs someone who can handle his excitement, cheekiness, naughtiness, someone who will carefully introduce him to other dogs and take him to training so he can be let off the leash”.

When asked about Walle’s most annoying traits, this was the reply:
“Given the chance, he will climb on benches and tables, and rummage through rubbish bins. He sometimes chews on his harness, lead and bed. He’s not sure how to behave around dogs or other animals – but he loves people of all ages”.

Please register your interest if you have plenty of time and energy to spend with this little man, if you will take him for walks and attend obedience classes with him, if you will be patient while an old dog learns new tricks... and if you can offer him a comfortable retirement.

If you live on the North Shore of Auckland and are able to foster Walle as a backup option, we also look forward to hearing from you at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thank you.

Update on Eva

(Original post is immediately below)

Today we took this gentle little dog to a lovely foster home. If she and the resident dog get along and Eva settles in well, her adoption will follow. We have our paws crossed with baited breath.

Many thanks to each of you who shared Eva's post, offered her foster care or applied to adopt her. We have kept your details on file in case Eva's trial home doesn't work out - or in case another small dog comes along.

Please check out the post for Eva's housemate, Walle, tomorrow night. Many thanks.

URGENT: Little Eva seeks a loving retirement home

Dear little Eva needs a securely fenced and gated, loving home within 15 days. She is a petite, 8-year-old Bichon Frise weighing only 4.4kg.

Due to her caregivers moving into a house where fencing is not possible, she suddenly finds herself homeless for her retirement years. Eva loves to follow her caregivers around, to be cuddled, held and to sit on laps. She has seldom left her property and therefore, thoroughly enjoyed the walk we did with her last week. Regular walks and outings to gain confidence with new people, dogs and experiences will need to be a part of her new lifestyle.

Eva is shy at first meeting, but warms to people who treat her with kindness. She has just completed a comprehensive vet check and, apart from having shocking dental health (which required a deep clean, 16 extractions and antibiotics), she appears to be in very good condition. She has quickly bounced back from the treatments.

Eva is sensitive to sound and will bark when she is startled by noises, so you and your nearest neighbours will need to be tolerant of her potential to be yappy. This behaviour may subside once she is separated from her current canine housemate. A quiet environment would be ideal in this regard.

She has had no training whatsoever, so group or one-on-one obedience classes are highly recommended for Eva’s successful applicant. She needs a home where she is seldom alone, and preferably, where she is the only cherished companion animal in the household. She must have indoor and outdoor access and sleep near her new caregiver(s) at night.

Eva requires a professional groom every 6-8 weeks to maintain her coat and to prevent facial matting. This cost will need to be factored into her budget.

To register your interest in Eva, please send us an e-mail with a little information about yourself and the home you would provide for her. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you live on the North Shore of Auckland and are able to foster this sweet little dog as a backup option, we also look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Paw Justice strikes again

We are so grateful to Paw Justice for donating the dog, cat, rabbit and chicken food that we so desperately needed for our rescued animals.

Co-founder Shaughan is pictured with his gorgeous daughter Andee when they delivered the goodies to our shelter door.

As everyone knows - you guys are totally awesome! Thank you!
