Urgent home needed for Pesque the pet pig

Pesque is a smart, friendly, two-year-old boy who enjoys mud bathing, being brushed and having his ears tickled. He is at risk of being sent to a "hunting farm" where he will be abandoned on a bush block to be hunted down for sport - unless a loving home can be found.

Pesque needs human companionship in a home where he will never be viewed as meat. We will have to neuter him prior to his adoption at a cost of $450. Please help us with this bill by making a donation with the reference "Pesque" at https://givealittle.co.nz/org/animalrehoming or go to our donate page for alternate payment options.

If you can provide a home for Pesque where he can live out his natural life span, or temporary foster care, please urgently email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Five bereaved cats - two more adopted!

Remember the five bereaved cats? We previously shared Romeo’s adoption story and now two more of these beautiful fur-babies have been adopted. Tonto (black & white) and Harley (ginger tabby) had been pals since their kitten-hood and we were determined to keep them together - although one was extremely gregarious and the other untouchably shy.

As she gradually began to win Tonto’s trust, Billie the fosterer thought it was unlikely an ideal home would be found for the two friends. We agreed and were thrilled when she asked if she could adopt them herself. It’s wonderful that these delightful boys have stayed together and are loved unconditionally.

The other two cats, Jack and Bo-Peep, are still looking for their happy endings. They can be adopted together or separately.

15th wedding anniversary get-away... after 8 years!

Running our animal rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing shelter is a comprehensive and full-time job requiring at least one experienced person on-site at all times. For this reason, founders Linda and Paul had not been able to have a holiday together for eight years!

That all changed last weekend when Imogen took care of everything so they could celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary with a three night break in Rotorua. Gareth kindly gave her moral support while volunteers Onjoli and Arionne assisted for an afternoon and Maggie, Gemma, Bella, Angie, Nicole, Lynn and Neil ensured all the dogs were given stimulating walks and experiences.

Linda and Paul say, “It was so lovely to experience being a ‘normal’ couple spending some special time together without any responsibility. We loved zip-lining above the canopy of a gorgeous forest with Rotorua Canopy Tours, taking in a movie, soaking in mineral pools, finding delicious vegan eateries, walking aimlessly through markets and just reconnecting with one another. It was slow-down sanity time. Huge thanks to Imogen and everyone else who made it possible”.

Volunteers Imogen, Arionne and Onjoli are pictured below with various fur-babies.
